About us

Design Foresightful Architecture Limited (DFAL) was founded in 2021 as a successor company to the long established David Futter Associates Ltd, allowing the practice to draw on the 30+ years of knowledge, experience and legacy in the industry. 

The practice comprises a core team of staff with experience in residential, commercial and industrial design. Our open plan and collaborative office allows staff to discuss projects and ideas openly and develop solutions that both fit client aspirations and budgets. The practice seeks to provide clients with practical and cost efficient designs which are both beautifully elegant and effectively buildable.

Sustainability is a key and growing concern in the construction sector which is particularly focused by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), according to their Assessment Report 6 (2021) regarding climate change. Action must be taken now by everyone at every level to reduce and hopefully reverse the effects of climate change on our planet. DFAL is committed to doing its part to help halt further damage to the environment.

In our support to reduce carbon emissions, DFAL has adopted a no paper policy in the office which has greatly reduced the level of paper and ink usage. We also operate a flexible working policy which allows our staff to work from home 2/5 days a week, reducing commuting and the associated stress. Furthermore, DFAL is adopting technologies and systems to also help reduce and streamline processes to reduce wasted resources.

We design projects with efficiency in mind and will look to where possible to improve on existing regulations for increased energy efficiency and sustainability. With the looming changes to Part L of the building regulations, we have begun a programme of upgrading and improving our standard details to meet the new standards.
